Although the water garden is not as pretty in the winter, it can be an attractive backyard landscape feature. Here in northern Alabama, snow is not a common event, nor are winters that cause heavy freezing, but sometimes we do get the six degree temperatures that hit us at the end of January this year. In fact, the snow and ice event pictured here actually shutdown Atlanta, Georgia and to the south of us, Birmingham, Alabama. Both of these areas got a little more snow of course. Approximately two inches fell in each area,
causing people to abandon vehicles on the side of roads and interstates alike. Postal services came to a complete halt in Birmingham, Alabama and if it was not for the mail processing facility in Huntsville, Alabama, mail delivery in nearly the entire state would have ceased.
