Baby Barn Swallows Getting Close to Leaving the Nest

The cute little Barn Swallows on our front porch are getting very close to leaving the nest. They make a poop-fest underneath the nest but I love seeing the little ones. The family has returned every yaer that I have lived here. Some years I remove the nest so they will rebuild fresh.

Barn Swallow Eggs in a feathered mud nest

A Barn Swallow nest on our front porch. The nest is formed with mud pellets to form a cup to hold the eggs. The barn swallow migrates to South America yearly in late summer. They make a mess on the front porch but we still love them visiting us every summer.
